Design for UST

The goal of this concept was to utilize emerging technologies and fitting with the product lines of current UST products. Designed to help users more effectively handle emergency situations while outdoors.

Finding a Product That Fits

UST has a wide range of products that t in to three major categories. The new product design woud encorporate ideas from previous products in UST’s lantern lines while also encorporating a new technology that could help the user have control over a survival situation.

Sketch Process

A system of moving parts was designed to give the user a functional feel and to position the lantern design as tool rst and formost. Parts are assmbled to create a locking system for the legs and radar head.

Finding a Form Factor

Final Design

The UST WatchTower would be a future Ultimate Survival Technologies device featuring ‘MStar’ portable radar scanning capabilities. It is designed to be compact for storage and lantern functionality. When supervising a large group, the device can expand to ensure accurate detection data.

The UST logo was slightly redesigned to be applied to the radar face using a stamping process. This helps establish the UST brand and is placed on the product’s most important technological feature.
